Help needed Asap

I am replacing the steering column on my 88LX to a 88-89 GT tilt column.. I have all the wiring disconnected and mounting bolts removed. How do I remove it from the shaft that goes into the firewall?? Its ready to come out except for the shaft part. Also how do I get the steering wheel off.. Its on there good

There is a nut and bolt that connects the steering wheel shaft with the steering shaft that's inside the engine bay. That bolt and nut are near the booster and the firewall.

No idea how to get the steering wheel off. I tried a heavy duty steering wheel puller on mine and it didn't budge.

I had a look and something does not look right. The new column assembly I got does not have a shaft on the end to hook up to the steering assembly in the engine bay.
The new column assembly ends right after the second mounting bracket inside the car. Any suggestions??
