I have an Edelbrock Performer 5.0 and had the plenium cover off . I discovered oil lightly coating the inside and going down the runners. Think its coming from where the valve cover is vented. I hve aftermarket covers without a baffle and no oil tube. Was thinking about installing a pcv valve on the cover to prevent this. Would this work or would I build up too much pressure during wfo? Need answers please.:bang:

Are you running a PCV on the lower intake currently? It doesn't sound like you are.

Are you just using a breather in the oil fill tube? Chances are that the engines crank case pressure is pushing oil up through the tube and into the throttle body and then into the intake.

A few people on here have had this problem but they were running a PCV. I bet they will see this and offer their experinece. Chances are though, you need an air / oil seperator with the PCV to fix it.

Make sure there is the baffle on the underside of the intake. Someone mentioned this to me when i was having the problem, sure enough that was it, no more oil in the manifold. Pull the PCV screen and shine a light in there, you should be able to see a metal baffle under the screen. If there isnt one, you need to remove the intake and install it, if you dont have one, call Edelbrock, they will sell you an install kit for around $15 and it comes with the baffle and the rivets to install it. The PCV runs off vacuum and if there is no baffle, the oil from the lifter valley basicall gets sucked right up into the intake. BTW, the install kit comes with all new studs and bolts to install, probably more than you need, just didnt want you to think that was just for the baffle and the rivets!
