ok, i drove my car home from FL today (16 hr trip), and about an hour into the trip i noticed a big problem w/ the rear axle... when i would turn going anything below 40 i could hear a kinda grinding sound and could feel slippage and vibrations. When i would go straight on the highway it would drive like normal... right now the car is basically undrivable until i figure out what is wrong. Suggestions?

Bearing going bad maybe?? Did you check the fluid?? I'd pull the cover off the back of the diff and see if maybe you could find something obvious aka pieces or chunks of metal.

sounds like a bad carrier / pumpkin to me.

did you add gears to your car at some point ?

how many miles on your car ?

I just had to replace the carrier on may car, and ring and pinion gears b/c my FRPP 373's chipped off a tiny edge and the chipped off piece got ground up by all the bearings in the carrier which pitted / ruined them. My rear end worked fine still , but made a pretty loud roraing noise. Cost me about $625 total labor, and all, but that was for a very very good deal -
