I pulled the engine and tranny....I upgraded the retainer bearing with a steel one. and now the shifter wont budge! not from side to side in neutral or shift into gear. I did back off a bolt on the gearbox (drivers side) with a round head that had a torx bit or allan key in the center and then put back in....any ideas here guys?? desperate to get the car ready for the nice weather

That round head bolt is made that way specifically to deter people from going "huh, wonder what happens if I loosen this one?" On later models it's shrouded with a plastic sleeve holding a sticker that says, basically "don't with this bolt, this means you". You disturbed the reverse lever and return spring which is probably now jammed up against the other forks and isn't going anywhere until you pull the trans, take the tailshaft housing off, then the shift cover, and marvel at what you caused with loosening that one bolt.

Sounds like a needle bearing fell out. Time to pull the cover off and see what damage is done
