help... tachs not working right...

ive got a 92 lx 2.3 coupe and when i bought the car the tach was messed up a little... it seems to only read half of what it really is(only goes up to 3 grand but it is more like 6 grand)... it stoped doing it and it came back again... does anyone have the same problem... i just converted to a 5 speed last night ... and help???

Is the tach in question the factory tach?

yea its the facotry tach... my other buddys cars the same way..... its some thing elitrical

Your ignition module is failing...it's located on the front of the intake manifold...with a plug going into the top and bottom of it (about 2x4" grey rectangle).

There is a special socket that must be used to take out the screws (avail at any parts store). Also be sure to use the dielectric grease before remounting and be sure to mount it the correct way, I may be mistaken but I think both ends are the same size elec connections

yeah... what he said.. happened to me as well. seems to be a fairly common problem. Replace ICM and problem solved.
