Last night i was bangin a few gears to beat a 4.6 (won, just so ya know) and something went wrong in my tranny. Everything works, but i hear a metal clanging sound from either the trans, or from under the car. It really only happens when i get push down on the gas. Also, it could be totally unrelated, but my clutch started getting a little warbely and stuff at the same time.

ANY help would be appreciated in case i missed something and don't have to tear apart the transmission. I really don't have the money for a rebuild kit or anything like that at the moment, but i guess i may be forced into it!
Thanks to all who help out!

Ok, update...

Noise in all gears.
put in 80w 90
thinking i'm going to have to get a rebuild kit.
Any suggestions?

What do you put 80w 90 into? Your transmission??????

Your transmission takes AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID! Doesn't matter if you have a manual or a automatic. Look it up in a haynes manual. Dextron-mercon III ATF. Putting 80w 90 in your T-5 is not good.

Rev the engine close to redline while the car is in neutral. Does it make the noise? If the noise is not there, that will eliminate the engine being blown.

Does the noise only appear at higher RPM's? Does it appear in 1st gear while driving?

What is the noise you are hearing. Would you call it a squeak, squeal, tick, bang, what?

Be more specific with the clutch problem. Is it hard to push the pedal. Very easy? Does the noise go away when you push the clutch in. Do you smell the clutch roasting?

I think the clutch problem wasn't really a problem, as it seems to have gone away, but when i play with my trans i'll look at it.

It doesn't matter what RPM's i'm at, it's when i get some torque going through it. I can accelerate slowly before it starts making noise. usually letting the clutch out it makes the noise. The noise sounds definatly metalic in nature, almost like a winding piece of wire hitting gears or something. Also, i know that my syncro on second is basically gone because i have to find the right rpm's to put it in there most of the time, or just race it and jam it.

I plan on just buying a donor trans, getting a D&D kit, and rebuilding one then swapping them. No downtime, and a nicely rebuilt trans.
