Hey folks, I've got some valvetrain issues I really need help with. No matter what I do, I can't get rid of some really odd noises with my rockers. I'm running the SpeedPro (CS1117R) version of the Wolverine 1087 with matching springs, Crane pedestal to stud conversion, and Crane Energizer 1.6 RR's. I've tried the stock PR's, TFS 6.3 PR's (they gave the best pattern), 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 turns preload, even tried setting the preload with a dial indicater, and nothings working. I have tall VC's and nothings hitting anywhere as far as I can tell.

I've also used both Cranes instructions, and the "start at #1 at TDC and turn it 90* and run through the firing order method" for setting them up too.

Here's a small vid of the noise: View attachment 375896

Any help would be appreciated!

Nowhere in your description did you mention measuring pushrod length.

Did you?

If I were you, I would remove a rocker arm and use a sharpie or other marker and color the end of the valve tip. Reinstall the rocker arm following normal instructions/spec and rotate the motor over long enough times to have the rocker you reinstalled push down on the valve stem at least a couple times. Once you've done this, remove the rocker arm again and look at the witness mark created by the rocker pushing down on the marker colored valve tip. The rocker will have worn away some of the marker and this is the witness mark. It should be pretty damn close to centered on the valve tip. If not, then you need to get different length pushrods.
