help w/cleaning windshield plz

my gf's grandam has this **** on her windshield that won't come off. its on the outside of the windshield, it looks kinda waxy, and won't come off with windex and I rubbed hard. I've read something about a "clay bar" on here, can I use this on the windshield? What would you suggest I try to clean the windshield?

At night, when driving under street lights, its really hard to see thru the windshield. Its unsafe for her, so please give any ideas you have. Thanks guys.

Not sure what its called,Bug Off or something.It cleans bug and tar deposits from the front end of your car.Kind of like a degreaser.If that doesnt work maybe a new windshield It is your GF thats drivin it right.

Try a razor blade as if you taking a sticker off the window.
I have used laquer thinner before just DONT GET IT ON THE PAINT!

Well if it is a wax, you want to use something like Comet or Bon Ami. My windsheild got vasellined in high school once, and I used Bon Ami. I found it under my mom's sink, it was in a container that looked like Comet, but it was yellow. The substance is powdery and I sprinkeled it on the windshield mixed it with water and it cut the grease away with some elbow grease.

You could try brake cleaner, but again, don't get it on the rubber or paint.

Try using alcohol or mineral spirits. Do not use any abrasives, it will cause scratches in the glass.

clay bar should work i have used it on windshields many time at my detail shop another tacktic that may work is to us a highspeed buffer i know this takes out stuff like rain spots on windshields.

yes, its my GF who drives it. I don't know if its wax or not. It looks like it was a spray of something, but it won't come off like regular grime. I tried some armorall orange wipes and windex wipes today and it didn't work. I rubbed hard and long (lol) too and it didnt do $hit. I'll try the clay bar, alcohol, and maybe some brake/carb cleaner tomorrow. what is mineral spirits, and where do I get it? walmart? thanks

Try the clay bar with Windex... I recentl tried it on my car and I was amazed at how clean the window looked. The clay looked worse after I did just the windshield than it did after I did the whole car...

What kind of pad & products do you use to buff the glass?

you can use a highspeed buffer with a whole pad and some medium compund it works really well

Windex and 0000 steel wool. This is that same stuff you use to get off the glue left by removing window tinting. Another alternative is "Barkeepers Friend" It is similar to Comet, but is finer and won't scratch anything.
