My 94 GT 5.0 automatic transmission is slipping in 1st ONLY. Kinda like there's a 1500-2000 rpm torque convertor in it....

Any thoughts? Had the fluid and filter changed recently, and the fluid was a little OVER full, which I have since fixed.

No leaks or any other wierdness....

Thoughts?

THANKS!

I would check that fluid level once again, it was already over once so you've already identified a potential culprit. If you fixed it while the engine was cold, the level may actually be higher when warm.

Theres a known issue with the AODEs and slipping in first gear. Theres a TSB on it, I'd do a search on the web. If it is that problem, I believe the issue was a failed seal on an accumulator piston inside the tranny, if I remember correctly. Relatively easy to replace if you know how to take off the valve body. But, definitely do the search and see if the symptoms sound like what you're experiencing.

I can get to the valve body... Do i have to take the valve body OUT to get tothe piston?

The car won't move at all in 1st, 2nd or drive... Could this STILL be the piston?

Not necessarily screwed, but definitely not looking good. Is this something that has been getting progressively worst and now you're without any gears? Just as a preliminary check, double check your fluid level, check the shift cable. Keep in mind its an electronically controlled tranny, so the neutral safety switch could be playing a part in your problem. Check to make sure its still plugged in and let us know what you find out.
