I was going to buy a 302 block from a wreaked 89 GT block and I wanted to put a 331 stroker kit of some type in it with the trimmings to produce 300 RWHP and about a 100-150 shot of nos. Is this possible with a 2 bold main block, and will I need forged internals or H-Beams?

I was hopeing to use it in conjunction with the edelbrock power package for the 302 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL-2091&autoview=sku

Whats a safe amount of nos I can run on a good 331 setup?

How about 400 HP out of a stock shortblock with no spray?

If you can't make 450 hp out of a 331 and a cam swap NA you're on your own.

Check out the 5.0 block at summit. Unless you have free or very cheap access to a machine shop its a pretty good deal. Your first engine would only be 327, but you will have a block ready for the 331 after you wear it out. If you are going to flog the motor hard and push that NOS button regularly forged parts will live longer. NOS puts alot of sudden shock on an engine that will shorten the life span of any engine. I agree with CraigMBA no spray, you never run out of NOS and don't have to keep filling the bottle.

How deep is your wallet?

300rwhp out of a 331 is not difficult at all. I would say that that is pretty average with a good set of heads, a good cam, and a good intake....oh, and proper exhaust too.

for the 100-150 shot, I would run forged hbeam rods and some kind of forged pistons. I would not run a forged crank. Your 2bolt block would split before the forged crank will. PLus, you dont NEED it for those power levels.

I would also invest in a main stud girdle.

wow i might just forget about the spray if my motor will put down 400 rwhp with my 347. ive got the heads cam intake exhaust etc etc so maybe i will just see how it feels when i start it up. i just want my car in the low low 12's and if the bottle needs to be use to get it there then thats what im going to use hehehe.
