ive got an 8.8 rear sitting on jack stands. If I turn a wheel both sides turn. If I hold the pinion yoke neither wheel will turn, I thought that with the yoke held 1 wheel should got one way and the other wheel the other way. Am i crazy or is something wrong with my rear?
could be a spool or someone might have wlded the gears, but yea when i have had my car on the jackstands and turned one wheel the other went the other way
These guys are correct; with a PROPERLY FUNCTIONING posi rear end, both wheels should turn the same way. I have seen posi's that were so worn out, that the wheels would spin the opposite way (typical of an open diff). No need to hold onto the yoke either; let it spin freely to test it. If it's a posi, it sounds like you'll be rebuilding it either way.
