help with cam

i bought the crane cams hydraulic roller lifter retro kit yesterday,and i know my 91 351w has the same firing oder as the 302HO but now that i have got the block switched to roller can i use the frpp 5.0 camshafts like the E303 or do i have to use to crane cams camshaft?....also do i have the switch my distributor gear and if so to what?????i never understood why so can someone explain

From what I been told, a 351w motor is pretty much a taller version of the 302 motor. As long as the 351w block is a roller motor, you should be able to switch the cam's over. Your just going to need longer pushrods. lol Thats all I can help you out with. Hope someone help you with the rest and tell me weather or not im correct.

hey thanks for posting..i know that stuff,but i am confused with the cam selection and distributor gear

yea, you can use any roller cam that you would use in a 5.0L. not too sure about the gear.

i think you want to switch to a bronze or steel gear because roller cams are ground on steel cores.

steel is better cuz bronze will get chewed up quicker, sorry for not sayin that earlier
