I am proud to be an owner of a 2.3l stang, mine is in great condition, but people seem to want to put it down becuase it isnt a 5.0, i have been doing some things to make it look/sound more bad ass. i put on some hood scoops, painted her black, gonna get new wheels. but i would really like to make it sound better. i looked at some flowmaster stuff which i found interesting. but i was wondering if there is any thing else that might give me a better sound. i have seen alot of rice cars like civics with just a tailpipe that seemed to make it sound good, andy suggestions? thx

OK from one MI (Branch County) boy to another FART CANS are not the answer.
I personally have a y split into 2 2.5 inch flows, it sounds good for a 2.3L.
Are you going to do a turbo swap?

If you like the sound of fart cans on a civic then unfortunately Stangnet is not the place for you. And pretty well anything will give you that sound.

no i dont think a turbo swap is for me, someone just smashed my front fender and bumper so i spent like 700$ so far on fixing it and gettign a crappy paint at maaco, my dad put the parts on, it looks damn good, but not EXACT, so when i am out of high school my dad said he might buy me a 5.0. i do plan on putting a manual in it tho. but what is a "fart can"

Years ago I wanted to have a V8 mustang. That all changed the first time I drove A 2.3 turbo. The rush of acceleration you get when the turbo spools up is much more exciting IMO. Plus like 1fastfox says you will take a lot of people by surprise.

If sound is what you're going for this is the only way I would go Now personaly I would put that money on flows into a turbo swap. I use a stock muffler ( about to upgrade it) for my turbo 4 and it is very quite. But when it comes time to light someone up the 2.3T sounds like a 5.0L under the hood

Steering? Rear End? Transmission? Wheels? Try none of the above. All you need to do is change the motors.

Well if you got a auto (A4LD) I would probly swap in a T-5. Other than that don't worry about wheels and steering crap A turbo 4 uses basicaly the same motor as what you got. You just drop in a 2.3T,swap EECs and install a VAM. Once thats done you install a 3" exhaust. After all thats is done you are left with one simple fun task...eating Rice

You guys are making it sound like driving a V8 Mustang is boring and dull. How is 300+ ft-lbs of torque not fun??

It isnt all that, We all love the 5.0 and some 4.6L but to have a 2.3L Turbocharged and to be able to run with larger engines is a good feeling. I love my 2.3L N/A for a daily driver, and plan to swap the 2.3 T into it for driveability, gas mileage, and it is just a great little engine.

BUT I also plan to get another, 1993 LX Hatch to turn into a Cobra later on so I like both personally.
