my 88 mustang gt convertible needs help with his gear selection he is running 3:08 now but he does not like them wants a little more go. My car can not decide on 3:55 or 3:73 ratios My car likes to split his time between highway and around town he currently rolls around 1750 r.p.m.at 60 mph . I have a friend that says 3:55 will not make a difference, I think he is full of ****. please let me know your opinions and situations, thanks

Is he an automatic or manual?

My Capri has 3:73s and my Notch has 4:10s. 3:73's are much better for the highway, IMO.

AOD = 3:73's

5spd = 355's

I'm also planning to put 373's for my aod convertible, after the valvebody.

Sorry to be off topic, but, I like your Obama picture with the soviet emblem. He has "socialist" views. My family came from a communist governed country, so I know better and not voting for him. I'm one of the rare conservatives of the young generation. Hopefully there is more of them that don't live in la la land.

I have 3:73's in my AOD GT and they are perfect. The car picked up ALOT after the gears and especially my shift kit.

3.08 to 3.55 will most certainly make a difference. Granted if it's an AOD I would go with at minimum a 3.73.
