help with my dog, calling all dog people

are you some kind of d***head or what dude.....u should be shot..pets are family *******

Yes, I am a dick head at times.

I'm not saying the best thing he could do is go shoot the dog. I'm all for bringing it to the vet and making it better. I wish him the best of luck, and hope the dog's ok.

That being said, the pussification of America is out of control. Some of you people need to chill out. It's bothering most of you more than it bothers the owner of the dog. Back in the day, or out in the country, if an animal gets sick, you shoot it. That's kind of how my family and people I was brought up around used to be when I was little, so that's what popped into my head. You people need to hike your skirts up and just ignore **** the wads up your panties so much.

I knew what he meant when he said it. I just didnt feel it was the right place or time to say it. At least I didnt call him names for it.

well the vet said he just wasnt gonna make it out okay. he had kidney failure, pancreitis(sp), enlarged prostate, enlarged bladder, and bladder stones. they siad he was in pain adn they could try puttin him on iv's for 3 days to see if he was better but they said even then he just didnt have much of a chance, so my dad said to put him down, so we went to pick him up me and my mom and they hadnt done it yet. so we sat there with him and i held his head while they did it. atleast it was peaceful. im just dissapointed he only made it 8 years.

redfoxgt i think we did the right thing to put him down. the vet said he had too much wrong with him to make a full recovery and he was in pain right now. they had to leave in an hour or 2 becasue they closed so he wouldnt have been able to been put on an iv or anything at all for another day. and we did want him to suffer. they said the chances of a full recovery were slim so we went with what they said and saved him from suffering.

thanks everyone, this is tough but we'll all be okay. just odd with him not being around you know.

edit: yeah we did feed him, he made it to 8 years didnt he? and we changed his water frequently. his life was centered around eating. he ate everything he could. and we think he just ate something that killed him. we just had a hot tub put in the back yard off our deck and he would eat the dirt around that structure. he went to the bathroom once and there was a paper clip, an eraser, rubber band and a piece of our old sliding board in it. and yes we do watch him and we tried everyhting to get him over eating everything but nothing worked.

sorry to hear that man,

one of our cats had the same issue she was 7 and on the 4th of July she got out and didnt come home for 5 days which was usually because when she got out she would always stay in our property and lay on the front porch swing or the deck, she got into come antifreeze and got locked in a big storage warehouse behind our house by the time she crawled back to our house and we got her to the vet it was getting bad, we spent like 500 bucks having blood work and some other stuff done to try and save her but in the end she had to be put down

Sorry to hear that, I have lost a lot of dags in my day (I am only 22 also) never fun times.

I think it is a dog thing, but more a retriever thing. Our golden retriever will eat anything and everything. She is always in the garbage, eating clothes etc... Granted she is 13 now, so she knows better and doesn't do that stuff anymore, but there is a strong possibility your dog ate some bad stuff.

sorry to hear that man, i had to put my first dog down when i was 17, she made it to 14 so it wasnt bad, but man, holding her head as she is put to sleep is one of the hardest things i have ever done. i could see she knew what was going on, man that was tough!

Sorry for your loss! Labs are great dogs.

Just a thought. You said that you had a hot tub. Did you have any kind of chemicals in the water in the hot tub ? (chlorine etc.) If the dog drank the chemically treated water out of the hot tub that could have really hurt his kidneys depending on how much and what type of chemicals you used.

I feel your pain....and for once on a serious note it brings a tear to my eye.

I lost my dog 2 years ago...I keep telling myself...All dogs go to heaven.

I still have one of my dogs...he's a pit 4 years old and he has helped me get thru it...

I cross my fingers for ya the things will get better......here's a pic of my dog...his pic cheers me up at work......hope it helps
