I took the roller motor from my 89 5.0 (EFI) for my 67 coupe and did a rebuild on the short block. Standard 306 set up. Want to keep the roller motor with the edelbrock intake and 600CFM carb. Heads are ported stock but flow above GT-40's. Question is what cam have any of you used with a roller motor and automatic. Gears are 4:11 and C4 fresh with shift kit. Keep hearing abot the flat tappet versus hydraulic, but they all refer to the EFI for an 89 and ask about auto or manual. Getting frustrated, if you have a good set up from a roller motor and carb, I would appreciate some advice.
Thanks,

Plus gas sucking daily drivers I am ready to trade for a moped!

try comp cams :Comp Cams 5.0 camshafts

Look at the Magnum Hydrolic Roller Grind #270HR (either OE or EFI Compatible). Either should work just fine with the setup you want and should have decent lift for the heads you have (you didn't say waht valve springs you are running). neither of those two cams are very extreme and should give you fairly flat torque curves.

A B303 or E303 Ford Hyd roller will work great with your combo.

Flat tappet is a non roller cam, hydraulic is the lifters operation, hydraulic or solid, you can have a Flat tappet cam in both hydraulic and solid, same with a roller cam.
