I have a 5.4 triton engine mated to a mach 1 transmission (2R33-7003-AE)

I have a transmission leak and would like to get an idea of what it may be, just with your help and my pictures.

if it were my car, I would pull the tranny, replace the output seal, reseal the tail shaft housing and look at the seal on top where the shifter bolts up. While you have it out I would reseal all the plugs as well.

It's possible the leak is coming from the shifter box. If you pull the shift knob, the interior trim, the cover plate you'll see ~6 bolts holding the shifter to the top of the trans. If the shifter's been off the car or it has an aftermarket piece it may be leaking there. If so, pull off the shifter, clean and degrease the shifter mounting surface (both on the trans and the shifter), apply some RTV, let it setup a tad and then reassemble.

(Sorry, 4 bolts...)

Internally it looks normal. It's the top surface where the shifter mounts that you need to seal.

Did you notice any fluid on the sides of the shifter box indicating a leak before you removed the shifter?
