Hesitation and bad smell

My first post and I'm already yelling, "HELP!"
'88 LX, 67K miles (not 167)
So I'm pulling onto a 55 MPH road and the car hesitates on accel. like a bad TPS. It goes away after a few seconds that first time, but is constant (when accelerating) that evening when the wife drives to work. I also have a funky exhaust smell in the engine area after driving.
I pulled codes (which were not constant memory but only running memory ones). I have replaced a bad IAB(-C) valve to eliminate code 12, replaced a yucky EGR and EGR position sensor to get rid of code 32 and 35, re-replaced a new TPS to try the code 73 elim., and replaced the MAP sensor because I sometimes got a code 72. I also cleaned the TB ports for the IAB and the EGR, they weren't too bad.
I set the base idle (IAB unplugged) at 900, TPS to .94v until a mechanic said Ford's this type may like as low as .6v, it's set now at .61v.
I tested the EGR control solenoids. There's good vacuum to the sol., good electric at the 2 terminal pairs (12v / 1v), BUT I was told (Haynes) that I should be able to open the solenoid TO the EGR around 2k RPM. I can't get vacuum TO the EGR at even 2500 RPM. Is this a bad sign?
I still have codes 13- Idle out of range, 72- no MAP sensor voltage fluctuation OR bad vacuum (shows 21-22), and 73- TPS or circuit.I still have the smell after driving, not rotten eggs, not rich fuel, just a bad wierd smell.
Does this sound like a partially blocked cat., bad NEW MAP sensor, bad EGR control solenoids, or everything or something else, or gremlins or what?

kinda sounds like cats are in your exhaust!heh...no but it does sound like a bad catalytic converter...is the smell like rotten eggs...but still kinda sweet smelling?

not eggs-actly

Well, let's say I've smelled the classic rotten eggs smell while driving behind other people's problems, and it doesn't smell that way. It might smell a little sweet and a little like non-rotten eggs exhaust. If I drive it a few miles, go home and pop the hood, I can sometimes see a light hazy cloud coming up from the back of the engine at the firewall.
