This is Dave's old A-Trim that I purchased off of him in October. Mounted everything today. Thought I'd share some progress pics of my winter project.

Man, i've tried a bunch of times but i just can't polish worth a crap. I can do small things pretty well but larger stuff for some reason i just can't seem to get anywhere with.

Do you guys use any kind of aluminum sealer to keep the bare aluminum looking good after you've polished it? I've heard Zoop is a really good product but it's pretty expensive. I talked to some guys who use it a lot on Welds and they say you can drive through a whole winter on your Welds if you want and the salt and brake dust just sprays off with WATER when they're dirty and they look like new again. Now that i've got Welds on my car i'm looking for something like that so i don't have to polish them once a week.

The main thing when doing a large piece is keeping it flat in all areas.

I use BriteMax polish to replenish the shine (works awesome for that!) and it leaves a layer of protective film over it. Not sure how much it does or how long it lasts, but that's the claim. onebad95 here (on the 94-95 forums) is a distributor of that stuff, if you want any. Sometimes when I have a tough piece to polish out, I'll use that stuff and it'll help very nicely.

Other than that, nothing. I've heard stories about Zoop where nearly everyone has to redo it after a while, and I am NOT taking half my engine apart to strip and seal again every 1-2 years.

I've used aerosol clears and they just yellowed and looked like crap. Never again.

One thing i've come to realize and I know some others here have as well, is that the better polish job you do to begin with, the longer it stays looking great. Not really sure why, but that's how it seems to go

So, do 'em real well and pick up a known, good compound or liquid polish to freshen it up when needed (wenol, britemax, mothers billet, meguiars nxt, nevrdull, the nevrdull-like stuff that is pink like cotton candy, etc.).
I rarely touch mine, just clean dust off after driving to a show or sitting all winter. That's it.

I guess maybe with a better polish to begin with, maybe the surface is smoother so it holds less dirt in...i dunno but i see what you mean.

I agree with Dave. I hardly ever touch mine either. The majority of my bay has been polished for a few years and I haven't had to re-polish anything.

I just clean the dust off and use One Bad Polish like Dave mentioned to bring the shine every once and awhile.

OH................And to Jeff and Dave, why don't you two sissy's stop being internet tough guys!!! J/K
