Really what you need to ask yourself if what is my goal. You should also realize that about the widest rear tire you are going to fit under the car is a 245 but I have read where you can stuff a 255 if you are willing to roll the fender lips. I have 275/40R17 Nitto 555R's on my Coupe with about 370 rwhp and its marginal on traction. This is with 3.73 rear gears.

Do some research and I think you will find that a 302 with heads, cam, intake, and good supporting parts will build enough power for a really nice street car and a Tremec T5 will live behind it.

Your dream so figure up what you want and if budget is not a concern then go for it.

I owned and drove a 66 cyl automatic for about 20 years. Very reliable and easy to maintain. Only sold it when the 428 cj came along. Why not restore the 6 cy while keeping an eye out for the super modded car you really want? Brian
