So today i was looking at head lights on ebay and i ran across an hid kit for the mustang and i like the idea but not sure how all of it works. So if any one has HIDs on their mustang tell me what you have to do to install them. The kit on ebay said it will just take place of the regular bulb. And do you guys have any problems with them if you do have them. So just let me know if i should stay away from them or spend the $170 and buy them casue they look really cool.

The "HID kits" on eBay are a rebased xenon bulb that goes in the factory housing, which wasn't designed with xenon bulbs in mind. The correct method is to retrofit a projector into the housing, otherwise you'll blind oncoming cars with the glare coming from your lights.

I'd have to disagree, I had them in my car and they weren't all that bad for oncoming cars. My buddy just put some in his tC and they aren't any worse than a Lexus or an Acura that dont have projectors.

X2, the only right way to do it is a retrofit. You'll get tons of people arguing that the kits are the ****znit, but most of those people have never been a car equipped with a true HID system. The kits have zero cutoff & produce a terrible glare. Because of the stock headlight housing the actual light output isn't much more than good aftermarket bulbs.

Please don't slap an HID kit in a stock headlight. Be a little considerate to others on the road with you. The light that you think makes your car look cool is blinding the hell out of everyone else. Either do a retrofit swap by putting HID projectors in your housings, or go buy a car with factory HID.

Drive a car with factory HID's and you'll understand why the retrofit kits are a joke. They ALL glare and create hot-spots. I've been in my friends cars with various kits and it's WAY different than the OEM HID's in my Infiniti or my g/f's Lexus.

For one thing, when i drive my car, my HID's don't light up the ROOF of the car 20 feet in front of me.

If you head over to www.hidplanet.com and ask about these cheap kits...well...just be prepared to get flamed.
