i installled ngk tr6's bbk 70mm tb and jlt rai today in one shot. put it all together, followed all direction and reading from on here and the ones that came with it! idle when ca start is 3k and then after 5 seconds it kinda pops and goes to 2k. i need to know how to fix this asap please! and need my car. i didnt put the tps on too tight cause the first time i broke one of the bolts and was lucky i could get it out. all hoses and connections are made and tight. i sprayed all elec connections too with no residue electrical cleaner. maf and tps. somebody please help me, its soo loud when it runs, and yes i had it running for 10 min, no engine light, no diff in rpm. 2k the whole time!

Back out the idle adjustment screw on the TB. It is in the upper left hand corner if you are looking at it from the front where the opening is. Or I guess you could say it is on the top towards the firewall on the TB. Use an allen key tio adjust it. Unplug the IAC and back the screw out until it sounds like the engine is giong to die. Then plug in the IAC. Should idle fine.

right now i got the battery d/c'ed. in 15 imma put it back in, warm the car up with no gas pedal action, turn it off and restart. ill see what happens. if that dosnet work ill try what u said venom, and anybody else.. esp svtech..ill get back in 20 min

SVTTECH i unplugged the pcv elec connection, i figured out what it was on mustangworlds install instuction pics..but anyways the news is.. whnen i unplugged it the rpms dropped to a whopping 1900 ish..from 2k.. thats the report

Everytime I hear somebody changed a TB and had to change over a TPS from the original TB this happens if the TPS is not positioned properly. To tell you the truth I purchased a FMS TB that had the TPS already positioned just for this reason. Check previous threads I know I read the exact procedure here some where. You need access to a digital voltmeter to do it properly.

Can someone help out here who has actually performed this procedure,...

Sorry I can't help you any more than that steve,.... I know it's just a matter of measuring the voltage at the TPS, but I can't tell you the proper wires to tap into.

I'm almost sure that's what the problem is. That set screw on the TB is not to be adjusted, in fact the screw is made not to adjust by FORD. Too bad the directions from BBK don't mention how to set up the TPS.

Here's more. I hope this helps,...

TPS adjusment, and idle relearn

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to set the TPS, (throttle postion sensor)

You want the TPS voltage to be set under 1 volt. Setting it to .93 to .98 is good range and should be fine. The risk of a surging idle increases quickly the closer you get to 1 Volt.

Loosening the two bolts on top of the TPS, this will enable you to turn the sensor slightly left to right. This is how you adjust it. Now you will have to back probe the black wire (negative) and the green wire (positive) of the sensor with a multi-meter. In some cases the bolt holes of the TPS might need to be elongated to achieve the proper voltage reading.

The IAC VALVE electrical connection is what you pulled right?

if you pulled that and it still idles around 1900 then there a few things you can try.

1. tap the IAC valve with a hammer while it's running and see if that clears it up.

2. if you have a multimeter, check voltage at the TPS and make sure it's around .98 or so at idle and sweeps smoothly all the way to around 5 volts at WOT

yea i pulled that pulg.. i read somewhere if i pull the tps plug and it stalls..thats my problem. im gonna go do that soon and see. i have a tuner, but no voltometer, so i guess im gonna have to do it by slight movements? i dont know, but ill get back on the tps removal thing in a few hours. thanks guys
