High Reving Engine?

I have read on here that people should shift there cars between 5200-5700 at the track. My future plan for my car is the trick flow kit. I was just curious what it would take to make a 5.0 rev as high as the mod motors. I took a ride in mach 1 with a kid i used to go to highschool with and i like how the car just contiues to pull. I also thought i had seen somehting on tv about a ford 427 maybe a fairlane that used to rev to the sky. Just curious if that was possible with our cars. thanks

YEah revving high is cool but why do it when you dont have to. 5.0s will make all the power you need in a street below 6,500rpm. Once you go to 7k plus rpm you need some serious $$$ for a valvetrain set up and for a strong and light bottom end combo.
 
i know that reving that high isn't needed for our cars i was just wondering if a 5.0 could rev like a overhead cam engine. I like the tourqe we have off the line. just a question i had.
 
Also with the trickflow kit plan on using i think 24 lb injectors are the way to go right? I've read on here that a lot of people don't like aftermarket maf's, how do you switch to 24's but still use the stock maf?

That wasn't just any old 427FE block. That was the 427 SOHC (single over-head cam) motor a.k.a. the "Cammer."

I saw a guy running one at a nostalgia race this year and he was shifting at 7200 rpm. When I talked to him, he said that back in the day these engines came out, guys were shifting them between 8500 to 9000 rpm. A pretty ridiculous and awesome motor.
 
How high do you want to rev?

~$3500 - 4000...probably the route I'll be going...but I might just do a TT setup for the same price as the heads and valvetrain :shrug:

You're looking at 10K + to go this high...if you've got the money it'd be sweet...but it seems impractical.
 
If your going with the TFS check out there info and cam specs....I have the Track heat kit and we have the SCT chip set to shift at 5500 on the AODE....If I can help with any info on the TFS.........pm me....good luck with the set up.
