I have tried a lot of things to help get rid of my afterfire when I get from 2500 to 3000 rpm. I bumped the timing back down to 10 and even tried it a little less and that helped some but I still can't figure it out. Well I was thinking about the car maybe running too lean and thought maybe the computer trying to compensate for the extra air might be bumping up the fuel. I was looking at the stock intake that is sitting in the garage and am wondering a couple things:
1) The stock vacuum tubing runs from the underside of middle of the manifold to the outside, where it in turn runs to the pcv valve. When I put the explorer intake on, it had the part under the middle of the intake plugged so I just ran one line from the back driverside of the manifold to the pcv. Just wondering if that might have something to do with a problem as with insufficient vacuum.
2) I was thinking about the k & n breather that has been on the car and wondering if I capped it instead of leaving the breather on if that could affect the car like it has a vac leak in the high rpms or maybe unmetered air.
