High rpms at shift

I know I know, pull codes lol. I will pull them this weekend. Car idles fine and runs good but when i go to shift gears and push in the clutch it stays at the high rpms for a couple of seconds and then goes down. Just wondering if anyone knows a quick check.
88 5.0 stock S/D not mass air.

Mine does that sometimes a little when cold.
When accelerating easy and shifting the rpms will hang a little in between gears but never more than 1600rpm
Kind of sounds like it could be TPS related. I know mine does't throw any tps codes so i figured it was normal.

this may or may not be the problem, but once after using the cruise control on my car, it did the same thing, it would crank the rpm's up cause it saw it was slowing down. It still did this even after shutting it off, but after i pulled the fuse out it quit, i know this sounds weird, but it may be worth a try
