High Velocity Intake? Any Opinions?

Okay so Moss has a high velocity center intake and it claims it adds 30 HP. The JLT CAI puts out around 12-15 HP.

The High Velocity costs 380 and the JLT costs around 200 give or take. Does anyone have the High velocity and does anyone have any opinions on it. Is it worth spending the extra money or should I just get the JLT. I kind of wanted the high velocity just so I wasnt like anyone else, plus it looks cool. But Im not sure if I beleive that it actually generates 30 HP.

What do you all think?

I have never seen that...but man is it ugly.

And FYI, JLT claims around a 30 HP gain as well.

We have seen gains of 25-30 RWHP with the 93 octane tune.

Witg a tune obviouosly it will get more, and then you add the 93 octane and you get more but just the intake I hae never seen anyone get over 15 horsepower through the JLT.

I dont think its too bad looking but it doesnt look as good as a normal CAI. I just dont know anyone with it so I wasnt sure. And you dont have to buy the plastic that goes all the way back

I was considering that intake however I've heard fitment problems but a few owners.

Yeah most say they need tunes now, but I know plenty of people that dont have the tunes on them. I think Ive made my mind up anyways. I think Im just gonna go with the color matched JLT. And I know I wont get full responce without the tune but I cant afford the tuner yet.

i've seen a few people with that intake. i can't think of anyone right now. i can't seeing it being that much better then a regular CAI, if any.

Your choice...but JLT warns that you must put a tune when switching to their intake, or you risk serious engine damage.

I just finished installing my color-matched JLT yesterday (switched from the C&L), and it was in big bold letters right on the instructions.

I have one on my GT - I bought it direct from WMS with the air box - paid $485 for the package. I would suggest you only run it with the air box as it will isolate it from some on the engine heat and it directs air from the grille to the intake. It will require a tune. My car is dyno tuned and when I changed from a Granatelli air intake to the WMS it threw codes. I put the stock tune in and drove it to the shop to be tuned on the dyno. The HP numbers seem exaggerated - I put down 305 RWHP with this intake and the usual bolt-on's. There is one major problem with the install - you have to lengthen the wiring for the MAF sensor. The kit includes six wires to "splice" into the harness. I ended up buying a harness extension. So to summarize - $485 for the kit + $150 for the dyno tune + $30 for the MAF extension = One Expensive Air Intake.

Yeah I guess I have made my decision. The JLT it is. Thank you all, and I guess I need to save up for the tuner before I buy it.

MEEEEEE!!!!! I've had mine for two years now. It does require lengthening the MAF wire harness, cutting/splicing the radiator hose and lengthening and relocating the overflow bottle. None of that I had an issue with or a difficult time doing. Up until last week, I've loved having it as it not only looks different and cool, but also got me to 287 RWHP with my only other go mods the Pypes O/R H and MAC mufflers. Not too bad for an auto running 4.10 gears and 28.3" rear tire! I emailed Doug (Bamachips) last week and asked if my car would benefit from stepping up to the 95mm MAF from the standard 80mm MAF. He said I'd be wasting my time and money as the WMS setup isn't that efficient as sticking to the OEM style elbow. I'll be stepping up to a C&L intake fairly soon. With the ram air tray, the setup sure had a nice look and drew attention when the hood is up

I do think that looks pretty bad ass. But I think for my money Im just going to stick with the JLT. I came up with the money for the intake and tuner, but now that I have that money Im trying to decide if Id rather have the magnaflow magnapack catbacks, or if i wanted to save up longer and get the black fr500 rims. Tough decisions. I wish I had money to play with. lol. Oh well

Just for looks...from what I'd seen online, both intakes were pretty much on-par in the power department. Wanted the color-matched intake to go with the performance white exterior. What I really wanted was a BBK chrome CAI, but I was told they no longer make them. Ah well, I love the way the JLT looks.

Plus, I bought the Mustang used, and the C&L came with it...I dunno, I just felt weird about it. I wanted to change just to say that I added the intake.

are you going to be selling you C&L?

I have the ford racing CAI, i didn't put it on my car. If I was gunna put one it would of probably been the JLT or the C&L.

I am not a big fan of the rubber boot on the ford racing one. and not sure if i wanna spend the money on the carbon fiber one steeda sells.

Don't waste your time with anything other than the C&L Racer for your car. It's going to be the best cai for your situation and plans.

Id personally say the JLT is the best for your car.. Ive just know so many people that LOVE their JLT and they all swear by it. The reason I am deciding to go with the JLT is because my friends dad actually researches everything like crazy and he agrees saying the JLT is the best for me. He has one and loves it as well. Not saying the C&L isnt great Im just saying my preference and from what Ive heard JLT is the way to go

I've had the Demolet tuneable inductions cai for 2 years now $499 for the cai and an sct xcal-2 withe a canned tune. My car made 263rwhp bone stock and with just the cai and tune made 295rwhp. Made 32rwhp! The demolet beat out 10 other cai in jan 06 5.0 mag shootout, very nice sytem, they also do carbon fiber and custom color matching systems.

I actually haven't thought about it...I mean, I don't need it, so I guess I could sell it if someone wanted it.

Wow...that one and the JLT look exactly alike. I wonder if there's any real difference.
