i need a high volume oil pump. the only ones i find are a FRPP part for $50 and a Melling one for $330

clearly the melling pump is better but why is there no middle ground here? i dont want to put a piece of crap on there but i certainly dont want to spend that much.

why do you need a high volume pump? literally the best is to go with a dry sump.

if i didnt want to spend 330 on a high volume oil pump why would i drop the coin on a complete dry sump system?

i will be picking up the FRPP one for lack of more options i guess.

I don't think there is anything wrong with FRPP unit. And honestly 330 for billit gears? Come on now that retarded.

yeah but im not running extreme amounts of power nor am i drifting or Autocrossing. dry sump system is WAY overkill for what i want to do.

i was only asking why there is a lack of options in this part of the market.

I thought the Cobra pump had billet gears? That FRPP one doesn't have billet gears, right?

the FRPP pump is just the same pump Ford has put in the cobra for decades. Its a good pump for pretty much all of us. Its what I am running on my car. I look at all the cobra pumps out there running on the streets compared to the billet gears running out there and figure the ratio of failures. FAR less FRPP pumps have failed compared to after market gears. That pump can easily handle 7000rpm with out a problem. very very few of us see that rpm.

Properly Spec'd Billet Oil pump gears are better than the stock oil pump gears. There is 0 failures of properly spec'd Billet Oil pump gears which is not the case with the stock or FRPP unit. I run the HV oil pump with properly spec'd Billet Oil pump gears. Depending on the application, the stock oil pump with proper Billet Oil pump gears is more than adequate.
