Chandler, AZ
I ordered a hypertech programmer for my 5spd 01 GT.
Apparently there are only 2 settings for advaning the timing:
87 octane or 93 Octane.
Well friggin Phoenix, AZ only has 91.
Am I screwed?
Guess I'll have to add octane booster every time. :notnice:

Well is it becuase that the timing is advanced so that is the reason to run the higher octane? Try some 91 like quarter of a tank and see if it pings. If it does then you know that got to use 93. I think it should be ok.

That means I'll have to constantly reflash my computer. :notnice:

Wonder if 91 will cut it?
Stupid Hypertech.

I bet that 91 will cut it, and anyway you've got nothing to lose since you already bought the programmer. I had a mixture of 87 and 93 in my tank when I installed the hypertech software and didn't hear any pinging so give it a shot.

Ok. Cool.
I guess I could also just keep a bottle of octane booster handy and just add it to the cheap 87 stuff.
right?

I know several guys that tried to use the Hypertech with 91 octane and they ALL had pinging on warm days. Some had it all the time.

I was in Phoenix (Chandler) a couple of weeks ago and had the same problem. I couldn't find 93 anywhere, so I went to the track and 5 gallons of 101. Not cheap though :(

There are some good things to living in Texas :D
