hipo questions

Hey guys, I gotta two questions.

History: Purchased my snake a few months back from a gentleman who was selling his son's 01 cobra. A real beauty w/low miles, etc.. He didn't know about mod's or if anything was done other than a new exhaust (sounds very sweet & I hadn't had the opportunity to look and see what) & CAI. I couldn't ask 'cause unfortunately the son was killed in a dwi accident (5/02)by a fawking hopped up ****** (hell she killed four young people in that "accident" --- may she rot in prison).

Anywho..I knew the dude was a member of a local club so I searched and found a thread dedicated to his memory. Frigging sad as hell, my stomache turned. I found a post from a nice person that mentioned he performed some hipo's on the car ...so I e-mailed him.

He say's: The up grades were sub frame connectors welded in changed the exh. system and special o2 sensors ,Eng power pulleys ..
Brands make and so on I don't know he brought it out and we installed them .

Question: what are "special o2 sensors" ??? & "sub frame connectors welded" - what will/does that do for the car?? Still gotta see what pulleys he installed.

Subframe connectors are great. They join the two unibody sections of the vehicle underneath the car. This provides for a more solid feel and allows the car's suspension to "do the work." They also prevent chassis flex/bending.

No such thing as "special" O2 sensors.

However, maybe that was the installer's reference to some type of MIL Elminators that were installed during the exhaust work. If there is an off-road midpipe in place of the factory Hpipe, they would prevent a check engine light coming appearing on the dash due to the lack of catalytic converters. They consist of a resistor that fools the rear O2 sensors into reading a "proper" voltage signal in the exhaust so the CEL does not trigger.

It is also best to weld in the subframe connectors instead of just bolting in. He may also have been referring to a high dollar O2 sensor like Desno brand.

I think he meant to type out Denso instead of "Desno." FWIW, they are a Japanese company that also makes overpriced sparkplugs, but that's ANOTHER thread).
