Hitting up the JY

Hey guys my little bro has a 1990 4 banger conversion, and it still has the original spindles. I want to upgrade to the v8 spindles for better brakes, but we can afford the 5 lug swap atm. I would like to know what year fox bodies have the correct spindles for my application. Im guessing all years of v8 fox body stangs have the same spindles?

I was also wondering what other cars might have the same spindles? Im pretty sure a fairmounts, tbirds, and cougars would probably have the correct spindles.

Thanks Zach:nice:

The 87-93 V8 cars have the better 4 lug brakes. The earlier V8 cars still had the 4 cyl brakes. As for the other Fox cars, I know some of the spindles will not work due to the ball joints not being the same. But from Matt's website: http://sn95brakes.com he says

If you do find a Lincoln Mark7 LSC in the yard, also get the front rotors, 73mm calipers, master cylinder and proportioning valve. You can all use this in the 87-93 V8 Mustang for a cheap 5 lug upgrade to the front. Get the spindles if you have a 4 cyl to convert over to the larger 11" front brakes. But be warned that with the front Lincoln rotors, you will be limited to the Ford OEM wheels that you can run!
I would really look at it to make sure it fits.

Also, on www.car-part.com they use the Hollander Interchage and it says the 87-88 Thunderbird is the same spindle as 87-93 V8 Mustangs, most likely the Turbocoupe models only.

If youre buying junkyard parts chances are 4 lug spindles cost the same as 5 lug spindles.
Im pretty sure youre gonna need the calipers anyway too.
Just get some steel wheels for the front until you can afford to get better 5 lug ones.
Sure its a little ghetto but why buy two sets of spindles? The rear conversion is cheap if you keep drums there. Just get two Ranger axles and drums.

Really the stock 4 lug v8 brakes are terrible. Mine hardly stops so thats why Im upgrading the front to a '94 5 lug setup. That setup is the base for any future upgrades as well.
Im leaving the rear drums.

well the thing is, my bro really wants to keep the ponys cuz they look sweet. If we were to convert to 5 lug we are looking at like an extra 600 or so in wheels, and thats not an option. Plus anything is better than 4 banger brakes.
