Does anyone have, or do they even make an alternator for the foxes that is better than stock? If so, does anyone have one that they might part with? My car sucks at charging!! I would use a 94-95 alternaotr but they need to be modified to work...I know cuz I already tried to make it work...Any help on this issue would be awesome...

Its a very easy upgrade to use the 94/95 3G alt in our cars. Very simple wiring and its a direct swap size wise. I went to an alt shop and got credit for my stocker and got a 3G upgrade at the same time. There are wiring kits out there for this swap.

Buy an alternator from a 96 cobra, and then go to any ford dealer or even you local parts house and ask for the pig tail wiring harness for the same aplication and then if you would like, pm me and i will walk you thru the install!

The only non-wiring mod you might have to do, is "notch" the stock (fox) alternator mounting bracket. Took me about 15 min with a dremmel tool. The 3G is a little different shape, and hit one of the strengthening ribs on the stock alt bracket...

Hey Jeff, aren't all the 3g alternators the same? (5.0 or 4.6)

One other side bennie, is that the stock 3G pulley size is the same as the fox underdrive pullies. (or at least it was on mine) So thats one less thing you need to worry about...

You can also get aftermarket 3g alternators up to 200 amps if you need them (stock 3g is like 130 I think, as opposed to about 85 for a fox)

Internally, probably. Externally, the case is different- here is a 96 Cobra:

You actually dont even really have to cut the bracket. One good hit with a hammer on that one stiffening rib usually does the trick. Done it that way a couple of times and it works pretty well.
