Just noticed today a nice 1" slit in the pipe of my CAI. I'm assuming it some how managed to rub against the inside fender. Nice coat of grey dust all over the MAF. I guess this would be why it sometimes ran a little rough after being parked for a bit and started to use oil and I couldn't find the leak. No smoking yet but I did change my oil every 3 to 4k but who knows how long it has been sucking dirt. Lots of mileage in the past year too...

What can I do to make sure the engine is clean or whatever may be in there? Not sure if seafoam would do the trick or not.

If you ever got synthetic-oil on you skin and not disposed of the oil right away, it starts to burn, much like gasoline. Synthetic oil is a good cleaner and preservative.

Change your car's engine-oil to a good synthetic. Synthetics are desighned to remove dirt and debree and suspend in the oil until next oil change.

Now if you actually got dirt granuals in the engine oil, that could get in the crankshaft oil journals and scar up some main bearings. Premature main-bearing wear ensues.
