I just got my car all back together and mounted my new '06 GT wheels and new tires. The car now needs to be lowered a bit so I plan to do the shelby drop.

In the meantime - next couple of weeks - I want to run the car around town to make sure everything is in good working order. The tires are wearing on the outside edge and I would like to correct this so I dont kill the new tires. What needs to be adjusted if the outside edge is wearing? Toe-in?

As soon as I lower the car I am going to have it aligned prefossionally.

Could be towed in, see tread if its feathering) or positive camber(but not usually when its lowered).

The car isnt lowered yet but will be in the near future which is why I want to do a home alignment instead of paying for 2. I'll prob only put about 1-200 miles on it before I lower it. Just got it back together this week and I am not just ready to render it useless again. (I havent driven the car since 2001 aside from a spin around the block when I put a much needed new clutch in last year and yesterdays open header run to the exhaust shop)

buy yerself a caster/camber gauge and go to it!

Google for diy alignment yields many articles, such as

Relatively simple equipment and once you have it and practice you will have more confidence than taking the mustang to a shop where the kid doing the alignment never before saw a car that uses shims for adjusting camber.

Toe causes the most tire wear is it is off. It can be measured easily with 2 straight edges and a tape measure. I used 2 wood blocks and 2 levels. Set the straight edges on blocks about 4 or 5 inches tall and bungy them to a spoke on the wheel. Measure and adjust.

Thanks for the info guys - I'll give it a quick alignment today.
