Hood Clearance at shock towers H&R with Bliltens

Im putting in some H&R Sport springs along with Blilstien shocks and Maximum Motorsport Caster Camber plates.

Im wondering if anyone else is running the same setup?

with the way the instructions are for the caster camber plates......i wont be able to shut my hood the shocks are too tall.

id rather not drill out my hood.

I could put larger spacers on the bottom of the shock but my fear will be increased bump steer and losing travel in the suspension.

ANy suggestions?

I still run the factory hood mat (and it is still in really nice shape) so i dont want to tear that out.

ANy help is apreciated.

change the spacers or get out a cutting wheel.... I'm running the same setup w/bumpsteer kit and not having any issues.

how did you do your setup? Did you cut your hood or move the spacers? What are you running the spacers at? Can you check?

Also by bumpsteer kit are you referring to offset rack bushings or more than that?

here is a pic with one long spacer on the bottom and 2 short and one long on top

they recommend one short on the bottom and 2 long and one short on top which makes it even longer.....

I wanna get it right the first time so im not tearing the car apart again...

ive put a vise grip in to suck up the excess slack in the shaft to show how far it still sticks up.

as long as you have 2 threads sticking above the nut you'll be ok .

thats not the problem. THe problem is the reverse where they are way way too long

the installation instruction on the mm site says as long as you have one spacer above the bearing you’ll be ok, and that you can rearrange the spacers so you don’t have hood issues, so why not move the other spacer below the bearing and that will pull the strut down lower?

Yes i read that as well. I just want to make sure that isnt going to cause me to have tons of extra bump steer or lose travel in the suspension so that it causes issues is all.

It also says in the instructions that the bilsteins have internal bump stops and that you dont need to use the factory stop or the urathane ones that come with the cc plates.

I assume then that the bearing rides directly on the spacers ...which inturn ride right on the shaft of the shock above the bilstein blue dust covers?

if you look just above 11 in the list it states that you dont need to use the bump stops with bilstien struts. it seems weird to have it riding on the metal bearing but if the stops are internal to the strut that might make sense....

yes bilsteins do have internal bump stops and that's the reason mm says you don't need the bump stops they sent with the cc plates if you have bilstein.

i hear what your saying about spacers riding on the bearing, but isn't the bearing encased in metal?

well i guess so but it still seems odd. I sure wish the MM guys would have better more clear instructions for the Bilstien setup. I just dont want to do it wrong.

Metal on metal in this area seems wrong if you ask me

I dont have any other cars around me that i could reference. I could wait until i see one at a car show or the track with the same setup i am wanting to install but who know when that would come about

I have emailed MM a few times but never heard anything back as of yet....

im not completely retarded here. I should be able to figure this out. I just want to make sure it is right before i destroy somthing These parts are not cheap...
