How badly is my friend screwed!!!!!

Ok so I made a thread the other day about me going to the track for my first time, the reason I went in the first place was cuz a friend of mine kept begging me for the longest time. So for my first time I was gonna race against him so I didnt have to feel pressured into beating a stranger. My friend has a mercury marauder, and he beat me the first time with a 1/4 mile time of 15.1, we raced again but this time he ran a 16.1, he said he couldnt hook up. So we raced one last time and he ran a 16.2! Well prior to the race he came up with the briiliant idea of putting a few gallons of racing gas in his car, his car is basically stock and I remember people from this site :SNSign: saying higher octane wont do anything for you if your stock. So when he asked me if i wanted some I thought for a moment and said no. Well on the way back on the expressway, his car starting making knocking noises, then it started shaking and the electric in the car kept flickering , and it couldnt keep idle! So we thought it was the racing gas, he has never had a problem up till now. So today he drove around continuosly trying to run out all the gas in the tank, he went back to the gas station where he had gotten the racing gas and asked them, "why is this racing gas messing up my car" then they replied "we dont sell racing gas anymore", my friend said "then whats that at pump 3" and he said "kerosene"!!!:rlaugh: :rlaugh: So now hes going crazy, he just found out, how badly is he screwed and what should he do?? Keep in mind he drove well over a 100 miles and 3 wot runs on the track with this in his car.:bang:

Heres some pics from the day:

This pic needs an OWNED label, lol

dont you just need to replace spark plugs drop and clean the gas tank, new fuel filter, spark plug wires, and **** like that. my friend did the same thing and his car is doing fine. but then again he only drove a couple of miles good luck keep us updated on how it went

But did the kerosene give him a better time?
lol

lol no, the fastest hes ever gone b4 was 15.1 but i guess after that the kerosene started mixing up he ended up running 16.2. How ironic is it? He bought racing fuel in need for really high octane but instead ended up with really low octane, lol, Im laughing now, but if i would have put that kerosene in my car like he had asked I would have KILLED him!!!!!!!!1

kerosene is 15-20 octane. octane is the measurement of the ability to be compressed before it sponaneously combusts.
your friend was pinging and probably melted his electrodes on the plugs and possibly had piston meltage. see if the plug is coated in aluminum dust junk. if it is, the pistons are beat

Lol I done that with my dad's lawn mower one time. I thought it looked a little different than gas, but my nose was stuffy so I couldn't smell crap. It mowed the whole lawn running on it too lol (refueled and refired it while the engine was still hot.) The next day when we tried to start it sounded like someone took the plug out of it. Needless to say dad was a little pissed when he had to take the carb out to clean it, empty the line and drain the tank.

humm not sure about in the gas My dad has told me to put it in my oil and start it up and run it for a few min before changing the oil. Suppose to clean all the grime and **** out. I'm scared to try it. He said they used to do that all the time

Didnt he smell the difference when he was filling the can. Kerosene smells way different than race gas. I had a customer that, At least 2 times a year accidently put diesel fuel in his car, I dont know how?? but it happens. :D

Good point but he thought it smelt like gas, funny thing is when we were driving on our way to the track, he had the can in the trunk and it tipped over all over the trunk and his clothes were soaked. So the whole trunk smelt like kerosene, I have never smelt racing gas so i wasnt the wiser. It looks like one of his pistons may be fried thats what some people are telling him, hes bringing it in today to see if his extended warranty will cover it

you could always do the american thing and get a lawyer to sue the gas station for letting you guys do that even though it was clearly his fault for not looking at the pump first. its actually illegal to fill a red can with kerosene or diesel. diesel is a yellow can and kero is blue... :flag:

1 - Your friend is kinda silly for putting in race gas and not doing anything that would necessitate race gas to his car. But hey, who am I?

2 - If that gas station didn't label that pump as Kerosene and your buddy's car is screwed, then I would definately go after that gas station. If you're not familiar with it then you probably don't know the difference in smell... its an honest mistake on your friends part.
