Hello all,
I'm going to be swapping out the stock rear that's currently in my Notch for the 4:10 rear in my now gutted vert.
Question is: How tough of a job is this? Any of you guys done this recently?
A buddy of mine who while admittedly is not a Mustang guy, but is a mechanic will be helping me out.
Any tips, advice?
Thanks in advance for the help!

If your just swapping the rearends it'll be pretty easy if your swapping the ring and pinion its more complicated

Technically the entire rear end is only held on by 8 bolts (not including the driveshaft)

Two Lower control arm bolts
Two Upper control arm bolts
Two shock bolts
Two quad shock bolts.

A couple of hours and some big hammers can get the job done in the driveway.

If you are swaping just the rear gears, I'd have a professional shop do it. Not saying you can't, but my skills and driveway space are limited so I defer to a professional for my rear gear changes.

Thanks for the replies guys
We're swapping out the entire rear..By the sound of it, should only take a couple hours. Just can't stand the stock 2:73's after having had 4:10's in the vert. Thanks again.

Aslong as your hardware isn't seized to the inner bushings, it'll be a breeze. Otherwise, it'll be a huge pain.

My experience was it takes two guys about 4-6 hours. That includes bleeding the brakes. You need a good floor jack and some jackstands. Don't attempt it without them.
