I have a ProFlow MAF. Having some problems with pinging at high RPM's when the car gets warm. I'm cleaning my K&N now and I want to clean my MAF. How do I do so safely?
The MAF element is secured by 2 screws & has 1 wiring connector. To clean the element, remove it from the MAF housing and spray it down with electronic parts cleaner or non-inflammable brake parts cleaner (same stuff in a bigger can and cheaper too).
I use electronic parts cleaner or you could try carb cleaner etc... just spray it on through the hole if you want to without taking it off if you do not have the special torx bit - let it dry completely before running it.
to remove the maf element you will need a tamperproof torx bit you can buy them in a set t10-t40 at any autoparts store the size you will need is t-20 tamperproof torx bit these torx bits will look like a regular torx bit but they will have a hole in the center of star to accomodate the pin in the center of star on the screw. i used carb cleaner to clean mine it worked fine.
