How do the numbers for ur h/c/i work together?

I often come online and see people asking if this intake and that cam will give them the horsepower they are looking for then someone replies and tells them how much power they will probably make. How do you calculate the i/c/h #s to figure out how much power you'll be making? And if you can't calculate how much power ur making then how do u judge the flow #s to tell if the combo will work best together. I'm sick of browsing through magazines and seeing different types of cams and intakes and heads not knowing what good #'s are and all. I'm looking for an in depth explanation here, if u guys know ne sites that would explain this stuff to me so u don have ta type it all that'd work too.

I know there is software that is out there that does it, some of the guys in here just plain know their stuff, but I too would like to know!!

It's much more complex than anyone can explain in short order here in the forum. There's not just one model/mathematical algorithm -- most of the specialists have tweaked programs so they have one of their own. Go here, open every tab and read up if you want to understand more about how these things work together.
