Gonna get my brother some mufflers for his birthday. Flows and Magnaflow are too pricey for this purpose, leaning toward Dynomax super turbos but thats primarily because I haven't heard some of the less expensive brands. Thrush, Summit, and some others are also in the price range. Opinions?

I like the way the summit turbos sound. They sound great at idle and are not super loud, although when you step on it, they get semi-loud. My only complaint is some drone at certain rpm's, but that's true of almost all mufflers.

i bought some from performancecurve.com... havent put them on yet, but they are welded mufflers and look just like flows. the company said they are comparable to the 40 series flows...i paid like $70 for the pair shipped. go to ther website and put in "ebay" as the discount code...

definitely get completely welded mufler, maybe stainless which are more pricy and cannot be painted (as stainless also loose shine over time). Summit welded mufflers look solid however welds are ugly, sputter is all over the place, however grinding the edges+paint would make them nice. I would make a nicer weld at home. About the more pricy mufflers ($150 a piece magnaflow (?) I don't see a clear advantage, although someone can say they have better quality and less restrictive flow whatever it practically means

I got the summit chambered welded mufflers. They're going on a completely stock 289 that isn't going to be getting any modifications in the foreseeable future and really sound is the only reason to go with it... spending over 100/muffler on magnaflows wasn't in the cards (sorry Rusty lol )

I'll report back on how they sound.
