I'm just curious as to what everyone does to be able to fund their projects and make their cars as bad ass as they are. Obviously if your into child trafficking or murder for hire dont post that. I know being married is also a big impact on funding. I'm going to be lucky to get $200 a month to spend towards my car a month, I just dont see how I'm gonna do a 347 and HCI with that kind of money.

I guess I just have to figure a better angle to sell my idea to my wife. I know if I make rank I can talk her into more, but thats going to be a little while.

Two incomes. Hers and mine. Bills are split basically down the middle adjusted for income. Whatever is left, gets to go to the "don't ask, don't tell" fund.

Sometimes you have to earn what I call....'Wife Credit' My wife usually doesn't care as long as bills are paid up she doesn't care. Unfortunately we're still catching up on said bills

Keep it that way....don't have kids either

(ps...I wouldn't trade mine for the world. Plus, my daughter won't let me get rid of the 'Stang since it's my 'go faster' car)

Lol, I argue with my wife about every purchase. We did the seperate bank accounts/ split the bills thing for a while, but then she insisted on putting our money together. I stash money off to the side little by little to be able to buy anything expensive. To this day, Ive had to piece things together because she is so tight with our money. I make 1 1/2 times what she does, but she still controls every penny. It could be worse, she could be out buying 22 pairs of heels, but she doesnt waste money either. I have a custom cam, lifters, and water pumping sitting in my garage. I'll have to wait a few more months just to get the timing chain, harmonic balancer, and pushrods to start the install. Its just about compromising, cause she never thinks we have enough savings.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission, that's how I operate, haha.

I agree on forgiveness than permission..... We've been married for a little while and from day one we've had a joint checking with my money and her money, but its always been our money. I remember back in the day when I had my diesel truck I would have to BS her to get stuff, but whenever she wanted something she would bribe me with stuff I wanted.

I guess I'll just be doing a budget build on the stang.... neither her or my daughter have seen it since they are in florida and I'm in cali, but hopefully when I get back from my deployment they will like it enough to allow me to do things to it.

Ha! If my wife saw how much money went straight down the toilet on that big turbo car, I'd be single too. There was NO way 38k was gonna get "stashed away" w/o her hearing the gigantic sucking noise it made on my wallet.

When it came time to sell it last year, (and I only made a fraction back) she was disgusted that "I probably threw away 20,000 on a car that I drove for a year at the track only"

Now that I'm out of that work, the last items that I need are draggin' ass. I still need tail lights, parking lights B/U lights, a fuel cell, mach 1 flip top gas fill cap, paint, and the mach 1 stripe kit (or about $1000.00)

None of that stuff is gonna happen till I get another job to pay for it, because she definitely will not.

I'm like you, I have less than 200 a month to spend. But I have a supportive wife and she kinda lets me do what I need. I'm only worried when I get to the paint stage...that's gonna hurt and not sure how that's gonna happen.

Our money is all in together and she does the budget. Two years ago we agreed that when I graduate in June 2012 I could spend $3000 on my ride (trick flow top end kit). It will have been 3 years of saving up for it. Kind of painful. But Christmas and birthday presents help ease the pain. Also, we both work and no kids.

If I cant pay cash for it I dont buy it or If I cant trade parts for parts I dont get it....

I work full time. My wife has a house cleaning business that paid really well untill the economy crunch.....Now People just dont want to pay for house cleaning right now..... So we are struggling to get by.

dang guys, seriously this is a real issue. my project has pretty much come to a screeching halt. I'm getting married next summer so the girlfriend is in 'let's save every penny' mode. we've had arguments over $45 for repair parts... not upgrades... repairs! but she shouldn't complain. her engagement ring cost me more than I've spent on my car total. oh well... time for a third job!
