hi, whoever has nitto drag radials can you help me out??? After my new heads i cant get them to hook like i used to...they are 275/40/17 and seem to like about 17-19 psi in them.... i used to be able to do a short 3-4 second burnout and they would dead hook with only a chirp...now it just blows them off....anyone have any little tips or tricks for nittos????? or do you think i need a stickier tire and some suspension upgrades since i have more power now??
i need all the help i can get because im supposed to race a bike soon and dont want to lose because of a crap start
thanks!!!

You need to get them very hot, but it sounds like you have everything set right, the psi looks good 15-20 psi.

And remember...Nitto's are not known for dead hooking. The more power you make...the more it's required you know how to launch. If you have a manual your going to need to slip the clutch more.

thats basicly my description of them. if you have more than 300rwhp, your gonna have a hard time getting them to hook.

Without a decent suspension, you'll never hook.

You sell them and buy BFG's or Mickey Thompsons.

MM LCA's, adjustable Koni's, ditch the lowering springs, and run something with taller sidewalls, if you're not worried about giving up a little cornering ability. Maybe pick up a spare set of 15's and throw on some Mickeys...?

thanks for the help!!
i pretty much figured the lowering springs wouldnt help, what do you guys think about throwing the stock rear springs back on (maybe cut a bit) so it wont have too big of a rake????? Soon as i get enough money ill probably ditch the nittos anyway for BFG's but in the meentime i want to try to get it to hook with the tires on it now.....Im not even using all of the converter, basically im just on teh brake and around 2400 rpm's and then mashing it after i let off the brake and i end up sideways....I can get the converter to stall up to 3000-3200 though.... I also have a brand new set of Southside Machine Lift Bars that i could throw on...those any good!?!?
thanks!!!

It's not the Nittos. I have the extremes, not the drag radials, and I can launch hard. You don't even need to spin them too much to get them to a nice temp. Basically I think it's your suspension and possibly the driving. Invest in some nice control arms, maybe some better springs (never did like eibach).

Nitto's are AWESOME!

I keep mine at 18 PSI on the street and 10psi at the strip. Got a 1.7 60'.

Get rid of the Eibach's, put the stock springs back on and get some upper and lower control arms and you will be surprised!!!

Putting stock springs just in the back will not do anything for you. You want and need them up front for the weight transfer. With Eibach's up front you will have limited wheel transfer.
