ahhh ok i understand now..makes sense.....as soon as the nittos wear out i will probably buy a set of BFG's anyway......my uncle has the same size BFG as the Nittos i run, and they are physically quite a bit wider too.

The BFG drag radials come in 255/50/16 so they will be wider and bigger than our Nitto's that are 245/50/16. My next set after the Nitto's will be MT drag Radials.

The 275 stands for the section width in millimeters not the tread width.
Section Width: The linear distance between the outside of the sidewalls of an inflated tire without any load on it (this does not include any sidewall decorations). So if it says 275 its a 275. Now tires do have different tread widths. Or maybe the rims are wider/ narrower in the 2 vehicles, maybe the tire pressure was different or maybe the tire compounds are softer on the BFG's so under load they flex more....all 3 would create an illusion of different sizes????
The 40 is a percentage ratio for the sidewall height. So the sidewall height would be 40% of 275 mm.

yea i know what the numbers in the tire sizes mean...but i guess it must have been tire pressure or compound or something like you said to because they were on the same wheel..but anyways thanks for the help
when i take them off maybe i could get some side by side pics of the two???
