As many of you know I've been kinda house hunting. Well I got the heads up the other day that a friend of mine might be selling their house. I guess whats been in the works is that a very close friend of mine is getting to old to farm and is giving/selling his place to his one daughter so her house should be going up for sale. These people are like family to me so I'm hoping to talk them into some kinda deal. I have always loved there place. Its got like a 4 or 5 car garage, Apt or office above the garage (rent out maybe), a pretty big yard with a small pond, 2 sides of the property are bordered by fields, The house is beautiful the girls husband has remodeled the whole thing. Its Close to home. Out of town but close enough to still run with the fire company and see my family (big plus'). I know they will be asking a good bit for it.

Now as the tite says how far would you go for something you really want?

I have been pondering the idea of working 2 full time jobs. I work nights now which I could get a full time day job. People say I'm crazy and will burn myself out.

Or get a part time job. It sounds good but if you need money and a good bit of it a part time don't pull in a lot

I don't really wanna work 2 full timers but I really want this house.

I'm ready to take the next steps in my life. I love my gf and want to be with her the rest of my life. We talk about getting married all the time. I thought about it with my ex's too but this is so much different. I think about how to propse I was want it to be really special and one of a kind (I'll have a thread about my ideas someday), I think about us startign a family and her telling me shes gonna have our baby, I see images in my head of her holding our baby. Its crazy I know but I'm in love lol. But we need a place to live before all that can happen and I want to live in a place I like and want to stay.

What do you guys think. I know some of use don't get along that well but ya'll are like buddies to me. Sometimes I listen to your opnions LOL

I guess what I would do first is find out how much it's going to cost. I've always been big on making budets in my life, especially for the Mustang. When you have a price you can start crunching numbers and come up with how much extra you would need to afford the house and maintain yourself. As far as my personal opinion, I would be hard pressed to work 2 full time jobs. I have known several people who have done it because they needed the money, but they had no life other than work. Hopefully they will cut you a deal that figures into you working your current job and maybe another part time. Whatever you do, don't sell the ride!

Working 2 full jobs will wear you out (physically and mentally) and will put a strain on your relationship with your girl. As a guy that's been married for almost 12 years (got married at 23) I would say wait, wait, wait. That might sound like I'm having marital problems but I'm not. Date the girl for as long as you can get away with it. Trust me on this. On the house thing, well the mortgage company will tell you how much you can spend on a home. As you know lots of factors here-credit rating, net income, oustanding debt, etc.

I agree. Your way to young to get married!! This isnt the 1960's lol!

Oh and if u need two full time jobs to pay for it, forget it..

If you're getting another job to pay for the house .... then you'll have to wait anyway. The mortgage company will need to see what your income is .... so you have to have that flowing first.

Personally, I wouldn't work 2 FT jobs. I went to school FT & worked a FT job at the same time. It's not worth it. Just my opinion.

BTW, I became a home owner back in December. You'd actually be suprised how low the payment most people make are. Usually less than what they could rent for. Check with your bank or mortgage company .... you MAY be able to get it like you are. Or one decent FT job may do. You just have to check ......

Don't rush things.... I did that.... now I have a 7 year old girl with divorced parents and confused about a lot of things. Not a good thing at all. And yeah, I married the blonde girl from church and it still happened.

Live below your income, not above it. I NEVER lived paycheck to paycheck until my divorce. I'm down to a grand to go to get rid of my CC debt, and I can't wait! Just not sure the ole stang is going to hold in there long enough to make it. So a new CHEAP DD is in the works. It'll be my dependable car, and the stang can sit and I can take my time building the engine up right.

I have a g/f of 3.5 years now. I use school as an excuse on the M word. She needs to get her life inline before it gets more complicated. She still has a couple years to go before she gets that degree. :D

MM, You have gotten a lot of good reponses from the guys here. Let me just put my 2 cents in of my own experience... We got married at the age of 18. I now have 2 beautiful children and have been married for 8 yrs. It was very difficult at first but I would do it all over again.

On the house subject we rented for the first 3 yrs. We finally bought a new home about a year and half ago. It is basically what we were paying in rent before but it is owned. I DO NOT recommend working two jobs period wether it is one full and one part. It is very demanding on you physcially and mentally. The mortgage company will not let you go over anyway on your finances.

Well I have thought of selling the stang but the gf won't let me. She likes my car and says if i sell it i'll be misrable. Theres limits on it though she says I'm not allowed to fix it till we get a house which I know will probably be a while. I don't see the point in it sitting that long I was pretty set on selling it and just forgetting about it.

Jesse lol I do like BJ's but don't get them to often anyway. I opt for sex unless its the time of the month so I only get them maybe once a month as it is.

I drove past the house tonight its got atleast a 4 car garage thats all the doors I could see they have a camper sitting in front of it. Screw the house I'd just take the garage

A year and a month
not long enough....it seems to me that relationships are great for the first 6 months, then trouble hits for a while. if you make it through that till a year, that is when you start to get really annoyed with their short comings. then it comes down to if you can put up with it for a LONG TIME!!! i'm not trying to scare you or anything, just think about what you don't like about her and think if you can handle it. like they say at the wedding, for better or for WORSE.

house: don't sell the car. don't work two jobs. buy what you can afford, be happy with what you get. if you try to live outside of your means, it never works out for the better. you may have a nice house and a four car garage but you won't be able to afford any cars to put in that garage.

Don't get in over your head and be "house poor." Live within your means and you'll be much happier. As for the marriage thing, I got married at a fairly young age by todays standards, I was 24. I know your girl is a lot younger than you, my advise is to can the marrage talk for a while and see what happens hen she gets out of high school and lives a little as an adult. Things may change in a big way, or they may not... but more often than not they change for the worse. You always see this with freshman college students. They go away to school all in love with their high school sweetheart and everything is fine for the first few weeks. Then they go home for Thanksgiving break and come back single. Things are just so much different once you are out of high school, maybe she won't change, but the odds are against her on that one.

Also, if this is the girl that is the love of your life and you truely picture yourself marrying and being the mother of your childeren, do you really think its appropriate to be speaking about BJ's and your sex life with her on an internet board? I respect my wife too much to do that, and I'd think that anyone serious enough about the one they loved would act the same way.
