If the only mod's he has are the ones you posted, his car does not "Come to life" at 5500 and pull past 7k. It's done pulling at around 5500rpm.

Unless your friends car has 690,000 miles and is low on compression, then it's quite simple; Your friend is not a good driver.

There really is no mystery to it. You say the car pulls hard, and has a decent amount of mod's. Tell your friend to learn how to drive and he will run some decent times.

I've driven the car it act's just as I've said > I've never raced it at the track / never had the chance> but it's like it lose's some of its timeing or fuel then just screams to life. I've listed all the mode that I know for a fact are on the car > I don't think I left any thing out short of the drop springs and the camber kit, it also has a ROUSH shifter and handle but thats not a H/P mod to me so I didn't list it . Could the tunner be doing something to mess with it ? And yes my friend can drive very well his car's are useally much faster than mine > at least till he bought this 03 GT >BTW it only has 76,000 miles, i'll try to get some vidio this week end and post it up .

Those mods actually won't get a whole heap better than the stock components. The only thing I see getting a big difference is the gears. He may need another tune if he's getting sluggish threw the rpm range, or he may need to have some one drive for him and take a video of the where they are shifting. But seems to me he should be at least high 13's. Get someone who you know is a good driver and let them do a few passes and see. That's the best way to know if your friend is getting the most out of it. If not he should take notes. Check his compression make sure it's good. what about the spark plugs are they good or old? Maybe the wires too. Make sure the car is truly track ready. good luck

We just did a tune up on the car . It had a tune up last year and he only put 6-8 thousand on it .We did it again when he put the coil on plugs on the car .(E3 plugs) this time . He told me tonight that the car felt faster with the stock gears than it does with the 3:73's > would the speed sensor be messing with the tune if the speedo doesn't match the computer settings? thanks

^I didn't put the cold air on my car till after it was taken to the track i ran a 13.4 with only a cat-back and the 3:73 all may mods went on with the new motor > work was busy never got back to the track ,i never sprayed on the track only the street a few times> (both my bottles are still full and sitting in the truck )
> then I KILLED the motor on the way home one day JLT intakes do really good at picking up water and feeding it to your motor , it's been down and i'm undecided on what to do to it before i put it back together > I'm buying parts to fix the 4v motor but I have a 5.4 4v sitting in a motor crate I'm thinking about putting in it . I have a buddy who has the gt500 intake and charger off his car I can get cheap > If I want it

Of the 3 tracks in your vicinity (I know they're all +/- 100 miles away), island is the slowest (it runs slightly uphill and holds the highest level of humidity). Try LVR or Englishtown. I ran better times at both those tracks than island.

I've been to Raceway park I love it down I used to race my Banshee there, but it's 2 hours from me .
I don't know of LVR. Where is it ?

If you guys are revving that car to 7k, then that's why it's slow. I know what it takes to make power all the way to 7k on motor in a 2v, and his mod's are no where near that.

Ask your buddy if he messed with any of the parameter's on his diablo. If so, what did he change? Also, find out EVERY mod he has.

Going from a 3.23 gear to a 3.73 gear will definitely not slow them down. It should actually give it a more seat of the pants feel. Ask your buddy if the rear end howles at all, also ask him how long the gears have been in the car. This is a very very very big long shot, but its possible that it could have a lot of preload set on the pinion gear, and could be creating a bunch of drag. But if that's the case, the gears will howl big time, and will not last long.

Lebanon Valley Raceway is north of you about the same distance as Englishtown is south of you. Look it up on Staginglight.com under the dragstrip finder. It's a fun track.

why would the tire's be too small ? what would taller tire's do for the car it fells like it needs more power in the 6o not less?
they hook like H3LL , car pulls sick fast all the way to 3rd.

Lol not to take sides, but who would be jealous of a '98 Cobra in 2011? Yeah, they're nice cars, but they're nothing to brag about anymore.

45HP more than a stock 99-04 2V! In all honesty, I wouldn't trade my 2V for your Cobra straight up so you can chill with the sh1t talking.

Go get an 03-04 Cobra or a 2011 5.0 and you might see some jealous faces.

As for times, what were you guys' verdicts? My car has very similar mods. I've only been to the track once and ran 14.2, spinning halfway through second gear and a crappy launch.

I want a gt500

Anyways it is difficult to say what times are possible as the heat is currently KILLING times right now. It's been over 100* for 23+ days consecutive in the Houston area

If you want to race Will, you better be on your A-game. I've watched his videos and he is most likely going to tree the crap out of you. You better be running 120+ to run him down.

Remember that time you were messing with that crotch rocket on the beltway, and made him look stupid.

I went last Friday and the best time I could get was a 14.2 at 99mph with the mods in my signature. Your right about the damn heat out here Im sick of it. Im ready for winter time to get here so I can hopefully see 13's. Also new tires soon will help get there too cause these Nittos are toast lol.

So which is it....13.4 with gears, or no gears?

No offence Jeremy, but you really bring the hate on yourself. If you just ask the questions, without the smart assed remarks, the attitude and the call outs, you'd probably be a lot further ahead with this group.

...oh and feel free to run everything you type through a spell checker. People will take you more seriously when they can make heads or tails of your posts.

Check your retarded sig. The only 96-98 Cobra I would be jealous of is a clean Mystic or maybe a BAB. period. I wouldn't even drive it because its not considered fast anymore, just a cool car to own and enjoy.

Please, learn to use the English language! It's hard to have anybody on here take you seriously.

Get over your little slowbra. It's not fast. Tons of 2v's will kick the dogchit out of you.

If you are serious about what makes 2v's tick, do a search. The info has been on here for over 10 years.
