Remove the plug wires, coil wire, cap, and electronic connection, and one bolt and lift it out. As said above, make sure to remember how the rotor was oriented (which cylinder was about to fire) and also where it went into the block. Do this on both your dad's truck so you know how to put your dist. into his truck and to your car so you know how to put the MSD in later. That should be it. Once it is installed, if you have a timing light it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the timing. Good luck.
