How long for CE to come back on?

My car has had a CE light since I bought it 9k miles ago. Slowly I have pulled the codes and fixed things that needed fixing. This weekend I finally deleted the EGR (put a piece of metal shim between the EGR and intake then did the plunger half way down with a pressed on yellow wire nut and a hose clamp). CE light went out but it had done this to me before.

Since then I have driven the car twice. Once for about 35 minutes then for my one hour drive to work (40 miles).

So am I in the clear and finally CE light free?

That would be so nice as I have already cleared out the air bag light, fixed the low coolant sensor, and I know why my ABS light is on.. so the CE light is the last mystery...

Sounds like CE free just clear all the codes and enjoy.

I think you are right man!!!!

I drove another 58 miles broken into 4 on-off cycles on the way home and still no light.

So am i correct in that to celar the codes all I have to do is check the codes like normal with the engine off then once the codes have displayed remove the paperclip with the key still "on"... Does this clear all the codes or only the KOEO (Key On Engine Off)???
