How long should it take to get my '07 GT? I think I'm getting screwed.

I need your help, drivers of the ponycars.

I put money down about 3 weeks ago for my spanking new 2007 GT.
Still don't have a final price, vin# or delivery date. Am i getting jerked?
who should I yell at and what should I be yelling? can I call ford directly to make sure these clowns actually ordered my car?

well i my order just got aproved today 6/15and they told me it was gonna be 29,290 and i turned in my options list in 6/13. They told me i would get my vin soon and theyll give me an eta. if i were you i would talk to the sales manager and if you dont get answers call ford.

I had my price before i put my deposit down. I just ordered it on june 5th and I don't have a VIN yet, of course that was only 11 days ago.

don't worry just yet. I ordered my car around early-mid May and still don't have a vin #, which I was told I would get about 2 weeks ago. Every week my salesman says...."on Thursday we should hava vin"
My lease is up in late July/early August and he's telling me not worry, that my car will be here in July.
I still don't even know what the GT appearance is going to look like exactly. BUT I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF PICS AND INFO ON the web, so I do have a good idea, but still nothing from my dealer or Ford.

I feel your pain!!!

appearance pkg

lease - same problem. I have a 2003 4runner. I had to extend it till september. meanwhile, I am also moving from NY to Atlanta end of august. Order of stress for the people at table six, thank you!

I oprdered the appearance pkg too. sounds SCHWEEET. wish i knew what it looked like. where did you find pics? I'm guessing it's similar to the cali pkg?

go to the mustang source .com and search the forums.
they are quite informative ...I found an iso front view of the GT app pkg which barely shows the scoop.
they also have a pic of the dash, pedals, engine cover.
if you find anything else....let us know!!

If you look around on the Fords website I am sure you will find what you want sometime in July,and without having to order one and waiting forever and maybe not see it till Xmas time......
You should have ordered your car in early March like most people did......

Yes I think you're getting jerked around. Over on the Stang site that we can't post links to, they have photos of 07s sitting on dealer lots (know they are 07s by the colors, Grabber Orange) and several people have their 07 GTs scheduled to arrive next week.

In addition lots of people over there have prices and VINs for their 07 orders.

You're right, but I can't change what has been done, unless I order a time machine, which will most likely be on backorder as well.

If I recall, the document with the options for '07 wasn't even published at that time, and I would have missed out on some of the features I wanted like heated leather seats and whatnot. I don't regret waiting to order, I am just anxious to get my car. What I "should have done"...means nothing. Thanks for your comments.

Ford has the 'stangs with the GT appearance package (which I ordered) on national backorder. He said he is supposed to get info on Thursday 6/22. Anyone else hear of this?

Don't sweat it. He bought his car completely different than what he wanted. So now he is ordered an 07??? He busted my chops about ordering an 06 in 1/06 and not waiting for an 07. I proved him wrong got my car in 8 weeks and have enjoyed the exact car I wanted since 3/06. Ford has caught up with demand and are delivering at a normal rate. Call your local dealers and see what stock they have coming in. Check the website after dealers start taking deliveries. I ordered mine from a small rural dealer with little allocation. I received mine in 8 weeks. Good luck!

I'll get my car and live out my matchbox car dreams from when I was just a tike. It will have all the features I asked for and I'll enjoy it while driving to my new butt-kickin home in when i move out of NY later this summer.
if I decide to do some mods, I'll tweak it out a little. I'm not racing it at the track or anything, I like the aesthetics and stomping on the pedal once in a while.

Anyway, this is just a chatroom, these things attract the same know-it-alls and chest thumping blowhards as the local pub (FYI: to everyone out there, there is always at least one, if your local pub doesn't have one...look in the mirror). So, I'm not sweating anything except getting my butt planted in one of those nice leather seats and hearing that engine purr.

One of the photos of an 07 sitting on a dealer lot (on the other Stang site) has the appearance package (hood scoop, rolled exhaust tips).

If there are too many appearance package orders, the language that Ford uses in communicating with it's dealers is "Commodity Allocation" or "Commodity Shortage". If the appearance package has gone to this, Ford would limit the dealers to how many Stangs they can order with that option. Ford could do something like telling the dealers "For every GT you order with appearance package you have to order 2 GTs witout the option."

National Back Order is language Ford uses for service parts, not for new vehicle orders.

The dealer may have pushed your order out so he can place other orders ahead of yours.

If there is one thing that makes me smell a rat, it's that you don't have a final price. Ford pubished the 07 Mustang pricing a month ago. You can go to any of the automotive buying web sites like kbb.com, edmunds.com, etc. and pull both sticker and invoice pricing for the 07 Stang and all options.

Maybe they will use the extra time to make the hood scoops functional .

Seriously, it seems to depend on your dealer and salesperson as to when and if you get your build info. I had an '05 GT on order for over two months from one dealer and was still unscheduled when I decided to buy an in-stock GT off another dealer's lot.

There are reports that the appearance package is indeed on allocation. It could be that your dealer can't place your order until they order some other GTs w/o the option.
