My 418 was VERY loud. Big compression, big cam, big cubic inch, along with big headers and big exhaust with no cats=big noise. Cats would quiet it down some, however, a change in mufflers would too (dont know what you run). I had the mac 3" cat back on mine with no cats and a 3" "X" pipe with 1 7/8 longtubes.

It's more the big engine & cams rather than exhaust I think.

ie a 500hp 460 big block would probably be louder than a 500hp 302

That's my guess, I'm no expert

I could only imagine my old exhaust on a 408.

No cats
No mufflers
Turndowns.

I have the hookers too. AeroChamber. I like how they sound, but I wish they were louder.

Maybe I need cutouts.

It sure seems like to me a set of high flow cats would calm things down

Now ... how much more quiet ... I'd have no way of knowing

I can say when I moved from my simple self ported E7 combo which
had an exhaust of shortys, Bassani catted X pipe, and OEM catback
to my sig combo using the same OEM catback ...

I was surprised at how much louder the exhaust became

Hey ... more power means more noise

mine doesn't seem all that loud at idle or just puttering around the neighborhood. now when i step on it, it is a different story, but that is expected

my exhaust is kooks long tubes, 3" through a magnaflow tru-x mid pipe and flowmaster delta flow 50s, then they go down to 2 1/2" before they go up over the axle and out

i am going to accufab 3" mid-lengths

my neighbor has a couple of harleys and they are louder than is my car

keith, i'd look into pro-flo twisters, f-series. they are inexpensive and small and can be put in line pretty easily

since alot of the rumble/bass comes from displacement. would adding a KB make 'sound' louder ,bigger at idle/cruise even though KB itself is quiet??
-im jus curious if 5.0L + 2.2L KB = 7.2L of rumble? ?

Twisters for what? main muffler and sound deadening or in between header and mufler? I am going to have to get cats so I wont have room for adding twisters on top of the cats and mufflers.

Also, I thought you said you were running dynomax? Now I am confused as to which mufflers you are running.

i was saying you could put them in line like this guy did (he actually has 4 in his):

http://www.superstang.com/Exhaust/index.html

i have the same mufflers as you ended up with when you were on your crusade to kill the drone, but mine are 3" in and out. if i said dynomax, sorry, i misspoke (senior moment i guess).

A pair of turbos would help muffle the sound some
