how many coils are on the 99-04 GT?

i want to upgrade my ignition. how many coils do i need to buy? are there 8 individual coils? or 2 coil packs with 4 ignition coils each? what else should i buy to upgrade my ignition for more HP?

8 individual coils, and no there are no aftermarket coils, you could get a Kenne Bell Boost-A-Spark.

the stock ignition is fine unless you are throwing down lots of boost 15+lbs. the most you will have to do is put in some better spark plugs and maybe a timing adjuster, however you get more out of a diablo type tuner than the timing adjuster.

ignition solutions plasma booster if anything but that's not necessary either. I'd recommend for supercharged cars though.

There are 8 of them and the ford dealer charges 150 each. One of mine went bad but I found one on ebay for 18 dollars. I havent really seen any inexpensive aftermarket options, but if anyone does know of a good one let me know.
