Me and the local mustang guys have been thinking about doing some serious engine work to my car. and when i say serious i mean like i should be able to out run my buddies 2008 yamaha R1. As of right now it's not to modded. BBK shorty equal lengths, X pipe, spintechs, and so on. Im getting ready to order a 2.1 kenne bell, and some nitrous. If i can, im gonna try and squeeze 14 pounds out of the kenne bell. Im wanting to spray some nitrous to it. And when i say spray some nitrous to it i mean alot.....as in about 175 to around 200. Now i know it's stupid...but this guy on the R1 just wont shut up, so im either gonna blow it up or shut him up. Any of you guys think it's gonna last at all? Now what do u think would have to be done to the motor to handle this? I want to put cams in it, something like the comp 278 cams. How much boost/nitrous can a stock 4.6 take?

You really need to do some research on these engines. First off, nitrous plus a blower is bad. Second, 278 cams are horrible for a street car and the RPMs needed to get any use out of those cams would practically destroy your stock shortblock. The stock shortblock will safely make 400rwhp at around 11:1 a/f ratio. Anything more and you are on borrowed time.

You wont be able to hang with an R1 unless you are trapping over 140+mph in the 1/4 mile. That will take a lot cash and time.

your planning on doing this to the stock block? you might as well throw a grenade under the hood because itll have the same effect.

haha ya i know it's gonna destroy the block if i do this on a stock block. That's why im saying what would have to be done to the motor to handle this. As for blower plus nitrous being bad, look at the 2006 king of the street winner in 5.0 magazine. He was running a kenne bell and pushing a 150 shot and the 278 cams. IF i end up doing nitrous and cams it wont be my daily driver, but the more and more i think about it that's not what im going for. What cams would ya'll use with the kenne bell?

if you want go spend all this cash, go twin turbo and get a custom cam grind. Nitrous plus forced inductions is a PITA to tune.

Eh? Not really IMO. It's just like tuning an NA car once you get the boost maps down.

OK first off, a 175 or 200 shot ON TOP of 14psi is going to be like a 400-500 shot. Expect 75hp from a 50 shot on top of a blower.

To outrun an 08 R1 you're going to need to be able to trap over 135-145 in the quarter mile... Realistically at 3600lb street weight you're going to need upwards of 800hp to trap 140mph. To do this you'll need ALOT of crap, like a rock solid motor, huge heads, a bigger blower than a 2.1l (2.6 or 2.8), more cubes would make it easy, a built trans to handle the power, and a built rear end. Look to spend upwards of $15,000 just on parts.

but how streetable will a twin turbo set up be? Ok, lets just say that i wanted to keep the stock motor but wanting to do forced induction on it without nitrous. What set up should i use?

Streetable - meaning you could drive across the country in the middle of summer and not worry about having to call AAA - wouldn't be realistically seen with a TT set up. Add nitrous to the situation and the only thing you'll be doing is creating a massive oil slick and a big repair bill. If you want to outrun a sport bike, buy a sport bike. If you want to destroy a Camaro SS - go with a blower and cams (or a big nitrous shot with full bolt ons).

there is no way in hell you engine will handle all that hp. even 14psi from the blower will kill it quickly and the shot of nitrous will make for a interesting fire ball. If you are willing to spend that much cash drop a little extra and get a shortblock from mmr.

Why wouldn't reliability be realistic TT? And this has to be one of the funniest threads ever:

Goal: beating an R1
Mods: 2.1 KB (no intercooler i see) 175-200 shot, NA cams for some reason (278 PTV specials)
Block/Internals: Stock

This recipe is a winner

Twin Turbo kits are very streetable, any turbo kit is. You will only be in boost while at WOT and turbo setups prefer "highway" gears like the stock 3.27s.

Why would it not be realistic? Driving around town and even on the highway would be totally feasible in a TT car. Ya the car may have 800+ rwhp but you're not even biting into half of that on the street until you hit boost...

R1 > Mustangs

R1 > some drag cars

But for some serious power, you have to make all the other counter parts stronger as well, i.e trans, rear end, suspession, wheels/tires, maybe a cage and other things iam not even thinking about.

15g's is a real thought if you wanna beat that R1 and still drive home.

Running nitrous on a non-intercooled TT setup? With a STOCK INTAKE MANIFOLD!?!?!?! How is that streetable? Plastic intake manifold + hot scavenged exhaust gases from a twin turbo + a 200 shot of NOS. That is not streetable.

I'm running a 125 wet shot on a 200 shot kit, with a Typhoon intake manifold and I am still sketched out to push the 125 on a daily basis, so I keep my 75 jets in for "daily driving" and frequent highway use

And he had said what about TT without nitrous. No one said anything about intercooler, but no one said anything against it. TT intercooled across country would be no problem. Ask Cody, he drove his TT 2V to MPH untuned

Im just wanting to know what is going to be the most streetable power adder set up. Im not really that worried about gas mileage or anything like that. My long term goal is to compete in the King Of The Street competition.

No one ever mention intercooler or anything to do with the stock intake (including yourself) i was only going off the statement of "TT not being realistically streetable" Which if you go back and look at what you said compared to my response it was a answer to what you said... i cant read minds and answer things that arent there.
